Michał Salamon – pianist, composer, arranger, publisher, and music producer. Co-founder of the bands FOURS Collective, which reached the semi-finals of the TV show “Mam Talent” and Quindependence. Creator of the Salamonspace project.
Krzysztof Gradziuk – an aesthete of percussive sounds, a colorist and creator of melodies, an uncompromising artist.
Konrad Żołnierek – bass guitarist and double bass player, he has collaborated with many important musicians and formations creating in various musical styles.
Michał Zaborski – violist and composer. He is active in various areas, both classical and improvised music.
Marcin Elszkowski – trumpeter, co-creator of bands that stand out on the young jazz scene.

We invite you to workshops aimed at developing applications of the future in a team of 4-5 people in one of the selected thematic areas: ecology, health, education, and culture.
During the 6-hour workshop, you will learn how to work on an application and what the Design Thinking method is all about, which can also be used in the design of products, services, or in professional work.

www.OTymSieNieMowi.pl is a civic initiative to create a documentary film about the history of women who experienced pregnancy in the event of severe and irreversible fetal defects, and who were deprived of the possibility of choosing according to their will by a political decision. It was a matter of time when the first Polish woman would die because of such a cruel and inhumane law. The #OTSNM film gave voice to people with medical knowledge, gynecologists, psychiatrists, and above all women who were deprived of the right to choose. We will talk about women’s hell in Poland with the creators of the film “It’s not talked about”.

Participants will learn about the techniques used by foreign adversaries to manipulate voting processes and public opinion, as well as effective strategies to safeguard Polish elections. The workshop is guided by Maia Mazurkiewicz of StratComm Alliance4Europe and Givi Gigitashvili from the DFR Lab Atlantic Council.

Since 2015, we have witnessed constant tension between the government and people of culture. Disorganizing the life of cultural institutions run by local governments, abandoning the project of introducing regulations covering artists with insurance and social benefits, fighting non-governmental cultural organizations whose activities are not in line with the government’s policy, destroying public media, and aggressive historical policy that replaces cultural policy. What should the Ministry of Culture do? What should the modern cultural policy of a large country in the centre of the European Union look like? What would be the relationship between cultural institutions, cultural organizations, and commercial culture? And what to do with the Church, which in recent years has received great funds for museums and cultural initiatives? These questions will contribute to the conversation about the need for a new opening in culture that will make it free, democratic, and open to experiment.

We understand that the condition for a better future is development based on increased expenditure on education and science as well as security.
Civil society has an idea for Poland. We know what country we want to live in and how to fix it. What is more, citizens involved in the activities of non-governmental organizations know well what systemically helps them and what hinders them in their daily activities for women’s rights, refugees rights, good law, improving education, the rule of law, climate law, culture, public media, or restoring self-governance.

Finally, it tries to answer the question of who owns the rights to the results of artificial intelligence. However, does the current shape of copyright law make sense? Transgenderism: harmful fad or generational change? Teenagers, whether in London, Utrecht, Warsaw or Jelenia Góra, reject the binary division of gender and sexuality assigned to it. They see more possibilities than their parents saw. The number of young transgender people is growing exponentially. Parents have raised a daughter, and she is a boy. Or vice versa. Or they are a non-binary person: neither fully boy nor fully girl. They can also be sometimes a boy, sometimes a girl, or even a person of no gender at all. President Vystrčil and Marshal Grodzki will also illustrate how, through the exercise of legislative power, one may face the challenges of the modern times, such as ending the war in Ukraine and ensuring the country’s recovery, climate change, the need for energy transition, and migration flows. They will also touch on improving the quality of life as well as strengthening the rule of law and tolerance.

The project “YOUNG HEADS. Openly about mental health” was created to hear the voice of our children. So that they can express themselves: what they think about themselves, what they have the biggest problems with, and above all, where they look for support. The mental health of young people is alarming. The UNAWEZA Foundation decided to act. We will not cause Poland to suddenly have more specialists and wards of child psychiatry. What we can realistically do now is to create a rapid response system in the event of a mental crisis in a child and prevention. If we can train in first aid for accident victims, we can also implement “psychological first aid” into our everyday life and educational programmes. A team of experienced experts is currently working on it. The “YOUNG HEADS. Openly about mental health”report is the starting point of their work.

The guest of the meeting will be this year’s literary debut Przemysław Kowalewski. His crime novel “Kozioł” has been conquering the bestseller lists for two months. The book was recognized by Jarosław Molenda as “The best crime debut of the year”. Many reviewers pointed to the fact that Kowalewski uses a subliminal message in his novel, identifying the current authorities with the communist regime of the time. The author returns to 1952 and the case of “The Butcher from Niebuszewo”. In his novel, he paints a picture of destroyed Szczecin in the arms of demoralized communist authorities. During the meeting entitled “Butcher from Szczecin. Can a retro crime story be sexy?” we will try to answer the question of whether novels set several decades ago can appeal to the young generation.

Since 1989, Poland’s development has been one of the most dynamic in the world, and transformation held up as an example. The economic picture of Poland almost 20 years after joining the EU shows that the main growth factors from the previous years have been exhausted, and the irresponsible policy of governments after 2015 led to a decrease in investments, waste of public money, and loss of confidence in financial markets. The fundamental threat to the continuation of above-average economic growth is the destruction of state institutions and the rule of law, the politicization of the economy, the decline in investment attractiveness, and the growing risk of chronic instability of public finances. We will discuss the future of the Polish economy. What challenges will successive governments face? What policy should be pursued to restore the competitiveness of the economy? How to make it resistant to subsequent crises? What are the priorities for the first 100 days of the new government?

Piotr Pronobis, co-founder of the Varsophie group, together with invited guests: Professor Tadeusz Gadacz from Collegium Civitas and Professor Barbara Fatyga from the University of Warsaw will talk about philosophy as an opportunity to find yourself, the depth of your personality, values, and humanism. The word “depression” is inflected in all cases, but we still do not know how to use this term correctly in the public opinion. Depressive state, depression, depressive mood, adaptive disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders or addictions (be it behavioral or psychoactive substances) are still confused.
Whether it is possible to talk about depression without taboos, whether it is possible to joke, whether one must always be serious when talking about mental health, what is the “contemporary depression of young Poles” will be discussed by experts, in whose words, as in a mirror, everyone will find something about themselves. Together, we will try to break patterns and tear down taboo walls around the topic of depression and other mood disorders. Because in the case of mental disorders, the key question is “when” they will affect me, not “whether they will affect me”.

Since 2015, Poland has been sick and consumed by evil. Access to information is difficult, and numerous scandals and favouritism are ruining the state of public finances. Without knowing the sources of the infection, without knowing how it spreads, we will never be able to cure it. During the seminar, the greatest scams of the United Right will be presented, including the last attack on the State Forests. Together, we will consider how to build an honest state and protect it from abuses and nepotistic attempts by the rulers. We do not offer easy recipes. We only help to understand how it happened that a group of cynical people without scruples took away the sense of agency of most of their compatriots, at the same time making money for themselves and their political kinsmen. We will consider why the recently friendly state has become an enemy of its own citizens in just a few years.

Research shows that talking about money is the hardest. Women are embarrassed to talk about money even at work. We don’t know how to negotiate, for example, a raise or salary. As a result, Polish women still earn about 20% less than men (Central Statistical Office data, 2018). In senior positions, this difference increases to 33%. Money gives stability, security, freedom, and independence, and yet it is still a taboo topic and we still talk about it reluctantly, with shame. Women who care for them are described by many as greedy materialists who put money above all values. But money is necessary for everyone to live and develop. To run a home, raise children, take care of health. They help to help others. They are due for effort and dedication. For learning, energy, and commitment. For talent and our time.

In times filled with fake news, where the boundaries between fact and opinion, truth and falsehood, information and misinformation are blurred, developing the ability to look critically, ask questions, and draw objective conclusions based on numerical data becomes one of the key competences.

It all started with Radek Łukasiewicz, Jarek Ważny, and Janusz Zdunek, who decided to face the subject of passing, death, and grief. Even though these elements are inevitable and part of everyday life, they are a cultural taboo in our country. The musicians have created unusual compositions that will help the listener to look at the final matters from a different perspective and thus help them tame difficult experiences. The materials for album are the result of many hours of conversations and meetings with enthusiasts of the subject from all over the country. The songs were recorded with vocalists practicing different styles on a daily basis, whose voice timbre and emotionality will allow you to find yourself in this matter.

Choosing the seedlings, we will take into account the biodiversity of species as this approach goes beyond mere afforestation; it aims to restore the complexity and richness of natural ecosystems, ensuring that tree planting initiatives contribute positively to both protecting the environment and enhancing biodiversity. The attack on the rule of law would not be possible without the involvement of lawyers. The authority destroying the legal system in force needs professionals who will both prepare and enforce a political revolution. Such specialists are also used by the regime of Jarosław Kaczyński. There are known examples of judges, prosecutors, advocates, and legal advisers who have cooperated with the authorities and taken part in the destruction of the Polish rule of law.
How should the people who are the “cogs” of the machine that destroys the rule of law be held accountable? Can participation in the destruction of the rule of law be reduced to the sphere of acting in accordance with one’s own political views? Can a lawyer who has not committed a crime, but who participated in the destruction of the rule of law, feel like they won’t get punished?
We will look for answers to these and other questions during this panel.

The author, among others “Czarna torebka” [Black Purse] found out about her Jewish roots when she turned eighteen. As a woman on the verge of adulthood, she had to put her life in order from scratch. Jarosław Kurski in his biographical book “Dziady i dybuki” shows the story of finding the truth about family secrets. The process of learning about one’s roots, hidden by ancestors, was long and complicated. Can the titular Dziady (ghosts of Polish ancestors) and dybbuks (ghosts of Jewish ancestors) be treated on an equal footing?

Radicalization is a complex process where a person or group of people begins to adopt an extreme, violent ideology or belief. It is a rejection of the status quo accepted by the general public and negation of basic democratic values, as well as a growing tendency to use violence to achieve ideological goals. The final stage of radicalization can be an act of violence or even terrorism. Instead of “managing fear”, we need to consider how to reduce its level in order to effectively counter polarization, xenophobia, and radicalization leading to extremism. These actions should be directed at those who “only” are afraid, as well as at those who “already” hate. In order to effectively contain threats, the rule of law must be strengthened and threats to it identified. It is necessary to create a network of experts and a system of direct response to crises, as well as to develop good practices.

On July 11, 2021, Cubans took to the streets en masse to protest. They had had enough of progressive impoverishment. The protesters shouted the slogan “Patria y Vida” (Fatherland and life), which was their response to Fidel Castro's famous cry “Patria o Muerte” (Fatherland or death). Cubans that day chose life, a life without fear, which they have lived for the last 62 years. For the first time, apart from bread, the nation demanded freedom and the end of the regime. We want to talk about contemporary art in Cuba, which has become one of the most effective ways to show how human rights are violated on the island, and how independent Cuban artists have become the face of civic engagement and protagonists of changes towards democracy.
